Week 5: Sh-Boom

So for this weeks blog I chose to write about Sh-Boom, the original by The Chords. I picked this song for this week because when we listened to it in class today I was just really happy to hear another song that I recognized. Also the fact that it was also involved in one of my favorite movies as a child would make it easy to write about. But before listening to it today I had only heard the main part of the chorus, so it was interesting to hear the different parts of the song. Like all of the scat singing, then when one of the singers sings in the really low tone. I think the style of scat in this version is a lot better than the second one. The first version it seems more light-filled and happy and the cover is more serious. Another aspect of the song that I had never heard before was the saxophone solo. After I heard it I thought it fit so well in the song and also the song is not the same without it. I personally think that the original of this song is a lot better than the cover. I personally think it should have been this version of the song that got the higher ratings.
